Travel with Oyster Card

E-mail Print PDF
To get around London’s public transport network, the Oyster card is the best way. It is a form of electronic ticketing used on Transport for London and some National Rail services within the Greater London area of the United Kingdom.

It is the fastest, smartest and easiest way to pay for single journeys on the bus, Tube, DLR, tram, London Over ground and participating National Rail services.

The card was first introduced in July 2003 with a limited range of features. Over 10 million Oyster card holders were recorded by March 2007 and more than 80% of journeys on public transport in London are completed through the use of the Oyster card.

Visitor Oyster cards are available at a cost of £12 and come fully charged with £10 credit. The card can be topped up at Tube stations, DLR stations, London Travel Information Centres, or online.
