London has a vast array of accommodation. Hotels in London are not particularly cheap. There are many expensive pedigree hotels like the Savoy and the Ritz. Most mid-range hotels tend to be slightly further out of the centre of the town. Most of the cheaper hotels are unappealing and seedy. Some of the low-cost hotel chains such as Travel Inn, Express by Holiday Inn and Ibis are established in convenient locations throughout the city at affordable prices.
There are also self-contained apartments and private homes available at a wide range of prices. For budget travellers, there are always student dorms and hostels and even a few camping sites on London’s outskirts.
The most expensive hotels tend to be in the West End areas such as Mayfair and Belgravia. For more smaller and personal but still luxurious hotels, you should go to South Kensington or Holland Park. Some of the streets off Earl’s Court Road are full of hotels. Some of the big train stations are well served with budget hotels too, like Elbury Street near Victoria and Sussex Gardens near Paddington.
There are also some inexpensive hotels in the suburbs, like Ealing, Hendon, Wembley, Bromley and Harrow. There is easy access into central London from these places by public transportation.
